EU Urges Ukraine To Establish Anticorruption Courts

Ambassador Hugues Mingarelli, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, says Ukraine needs anticorruption courts.

This is said in a statement of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine in Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office do important job, especially in the past few days. It is pleasant to see courts doing job. Fighting corruption is the main challenge and Ukraine needs anticorruption courts for this," the Delegation quoted Mingarelli as saying.

He notes that the new anticorruption agencies should act independently and the future audit of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine will be carried out by independent specialists.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the United States stands for establishing the Anticorruption Court in Ukraine as soon as possible.

On March 2, detectives of the National Anticorruption Bureau and prosecutors of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office arrested Roman Nasirov.

They served Nasirov a notice of suspicion at the Feofaniya hospital in Kyiv on March 3.

Nasirov is suspected of power abuse and inflicting losses of UAH 2 billion on the State.

On March 3, 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine suspended Nasirov as the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
