Non-affiliated Member of the Ukrainian Parliament Andrii Artemenko suggests that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine allow double citizenship.
This is said in draft law No.6139 registered at the Verkhovna Rada on February 26, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The draft law envisages amendments to the law on citizenship.
The draft law removes from the law on citizenship provisions banning double citizenship.
The draft law allows foreigners obtaining Ukrainian citizenship without quitting their citizenship.
Article 4 of the Constitution of Ukraine bans double citizenship.
Thus, introduction of double citizenship requires amendments to the Constitution.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 27, MP Artemenko confirmed his being a citizen of Canada.
