Poroshenko Declares March 3 Mourning Day Due To Stepova Mine Explosion

President Petro Poroshenko declared March 3 a mourning day in connection with the explosion that occurred at the No.10 Stepova mine of the Lvivvuhillia company in Hlukhiv village of Sokalskyi district of Lviv region on Thursday.

Press secretary of the President Sviatoslav Tseholko announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to Tseholko, Poroshenko has signed a relevant decree on Thursday, March 2.

He also added, that March 3 was declared the mourning day.

Also, Poroshenko has urged the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to inspect all coal-producing companies for compliance with safety requirements.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, eight miners were killed and six were hospitalized as a result of the explosion at the No.10 Stepova mine of the Lvivvuhillia company in Hlukhiv village of Sokalskyi district of Lviv region on Thursday.
