The Vienna Higher Regional Court has refused to satisfy a motion from the Vienna prosecutor's office about the arrest of Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash on the extradition order of Spain.

A representative of the defense of Firtash told this Ukrainian News Agency.

According to the lawyer, the court has released Firtash without any additional bail.

The businessman has given his foreign passport.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 21, the Vienna prosecutor's office detained Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash for 48 hours until a court decision on a measure of preventive punishment within consideration of an extradition order from Spain.

On February 21, the Vienna Higher Regional Court allowed extradition of Dmytro Firtash to the United States on 21 February after upholding an appeal by the Austrian prosecutor's office.

However, Austria's Minister of Justice Wolfgang Brandstetter will make a final decision.

The Vienna regional criminal court refused to extradite Firtash to the United States on April 30, 2015.

The judge ruled that the extradition request was political.
