The Popasna District Court in Luhansk region has arrested a locomotive and 57 empty cars blocked by activists on the 41st kilometer of the Svitlanove-to-Shypilove haul in Popasna District on January 25.

Ukrainian News learned this from the court ruling.

The court satisfied a motion from detectives of the National Police investigating into the rail blockade.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, some 50 people dressed in camouflage, among them Members of Parliament Semen Semenchenko, Pavlo Kostenko, Taras Pastukh (all from Samopomich Association) and Volodymyr Parasiuk (non-affiliated) on January 25 began hampering movements of rail trains in the 41st kilometer of the Svitlanove-to-Shypilove haul in Popasna District, Luhansk Region.

The Office of the Prosecutor of Luhansk Region opened an investigation upon the hampering of rail traffic.

On February 13, supplies of anthracite coal to Ukrainian thermal power plants stopped and the Cabinet of Ministers had to introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector of the country.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says Ukraine should not stop buying anthracite coal extracted in the occupied territories of Donbas.
