Moldova Suspending Entry Of Poultry Meat From Ukraine Over Avian Influenza

Moldova has suspended the entry of poultry meat from several countries including Ukraine over avian influenza.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a piece on Noi.md referring to an announcement made during a press conference at the Moldovan National Agency for Food Safety.

"Moldova is banning the entry of meat from Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Russia," it reads.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection on November 30, 2016 announced an outbreak of avian influenza at households in Kherson Region, and then the European Union suspended poultry meat supplies from the entire Ukraine.

Later, there was one more outbreak in Kherson Region, and also cases in Chernivtsi and Odesa Regions.

January 30, it became known that Ukraine and the European Commission had arranged mutual use of the regionalisation principle and resumption of poultry meat supplies to the EU from Ukrainian regions free from avian influenza.
