Poroshenko Signs NSDC's Decision On Major Indictors Of Defense Order For 2017-2019

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on major indicators of the state defense order for the 2017-2019 period.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from presidential decree No.31 of February 13.

The presidential decree endorses a resolution of the NSDC of 27 January 2017 on major indicators of the state defense order for 2017, 2018, and 2019.

President Poroshenko instructs National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov to supervise the execution of the resolution.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on 27 January 2017, the NSDC instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to approve the key indicators of the state defense order.

Following are some of the priorities identified in the state defense order: development and manufacture of new types of weapons and military equipment, development of the domestic military-industrial complex, increase of the volume of state guarantees for loans, and simplification of the mechanism for granting them to business entities involved in implementation of the state defense order.

In particular, it provides for providing the armed forces with modern missile and artillery systems, armored missile boats, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, electronic warfare and radar equipment, modern means of communication and control, reconnaissance systems for artillery units, and surveillance, targeting, and night vision equipment.

It also provides for modernization of aircraft, helicopters, and other military equipment.
