Ukrenergo says the anthracite reserves at the warehouses of the Ukrainian thermal power plants are enough to provide stable operation of the energy system during 40 days.

Vsevolod Kovalchuk, acting director general of the Ukrenergo national power generating company, announced this at the meeting of the anti-crisis headquarters, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"If there are no supplies of anthracite, the total reserve of 842,000 tons is enough for 40 days on average. One should understand that the reserves are different at thermal power plants and vary from 14 days to 100 days in conditions of the emergency situation and operation at the minimal capacity. After using this reserve we cannot go without disconnection of consumers," he said.

He says six anthracite TPPs burn 20,000 - 30,000 tons of anthracite coal daily.

Vice Prime Minister / Minister for Regional Development and Construction, Housing and Utility Economy Hennadii Zubko said supplies of anthracite from the zone of the antiterrorist operation stopped on 10 February 2017.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrenergo says the anthracite reserves at the warehouses of the Ukrainian thermal power plants decreased by 1.86% or 16,000 tons in the February 6-12 period, to 842,000 tons.

January 30 - February 5, anthracite reserves fell by 2.6% or 23,000 tons to 858,000 tons (186,000 tons was at the Luhansk TPP, which is disconnected from the Integrated Power System of Ukraine).
