The National Police has identified the likely suspects in the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet.

National Police Chief Serhii Kniazev announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Kniazev said that surveillance cameras recorded a young woman and a man whose strange behavior provided grounds to believe that they were involved in the crime.

According to him, it is obvious that the suspects moved along illogical routes to establish the location of the surveillance cameras.

In addition, the woman was wearing a wig and sunglasses.

The video showed the woman planting explosives on Sheremet's vehicle.

This procedure took about 10 seconds.

According to Kniazev, it has been established that the explosives were homemade from an anti-personnel mine and an electrical detonator.

Interior Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov said that about 1,190 mobile-telephone connections with Russian telephone subscribers were made from locations near the crime scene at the time of the murder of the journalist.

According to Avakov, some of them also participated in a mass congress of religious organizations in Kyiv.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Police is focusing on Sheremet's professional activity as the main motive for his murder.
