Russia once again has refused to transfer Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov and Crimean activist Oleksandr Kolchenko to Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhii Petukhov announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Russia has unreasonably refused to transfer Sentsov and Kolchenko. It supposes that they are its citizens," he wrote.

Petukhov also posted an RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs' response saying that the RF treats Sentsov and Kolchenko as its citizens who have a permanent place of residence on Russia's territory.

From the standpoint of international law, these allegations are null and void, so Ukraine will compel the release of the political prisoners through the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Russia in October 2016 refused to transfer Sentsov to Ukraine.

The Supreme Court of Russia on June 1, 2016 refused to reconsider Sentsov's sentence to 20 years in a maximum security penal colony and Kolchenko's sentence to 10 years of deprivation of freedom.
