Defense Ministry Intelligence: Russia To Replace DPR Leaders If They Lose Control Of Yasynuvata Bridgehead

The Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate believes that the Russian military-political leadership intends to dismiss the leaders of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" (DPR) if they lose control of the Yasynuvata bridgehead, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The military-political leadership of the Russian Federation is trying to force the leaders of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to intensify the fighting. A meeting was held in Khartsyzk on the morning of February 3 with the participation of the DPR's head A. Zakharchenko, Russian military supervisors, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces," the directorate sate in a statement.

According to intelligence reports, representatives of Russia warned the leaders of the DPR that they would be removed from their posts if they lost control of the Yasynuvata bridgehead

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a militant who was taken prisoner during fighting in Avdiivka (Donetsk region) has told interrogators that the leadership of the Donetsk People's Republic ordered seizure of Avdiivka's industrial zone on January 29.
