Ukrainian repair teams have begun to restore power supplies to Avdiivka, Donetsk region.

Chairman of the Donetsk regional civilian-military administration Pavlo Zhebrivskyi announced this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Zhebrivskyi says there has been a video link with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The head of the regional civilian-military administration reported to the President about the situation with the restoration of energy supplies, apartment houses, and social infrastructure facilities.

Zhebrivskyi says the repair teams use as much as possible the daylight hours to mitigate the outcomes of the militants' shelling.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Chairman of the Donetsk regional civilian-military administration Pavlo Zhebrivskyi says that the filtration station and Avdiivka Coke Plant have been left without power as militants have been shelling the town.

On 31 January 2017, the Donetsk regional civilian-military administration declared a state of emergency in Avdiivka and set up an emergency response centre.

The Donetsk regional civilian-military administration said it was ready to evacuate Avdiivka residents to Mariupol, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk and Sviatohirsk if necessary.
