U.S. Ambassador To UN Haley: Sanctions Against Russia To Remain In Place Until Crimea Returned To Ukraine

United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley says that sanctions against Russia will remain in place until Russia returns the occupied Crimea to Ukraine.

She said this when presenting her report at the UN Security Council session, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Haley also demands that Russia and separatists adhere to the agreements reached in Minsk, Belarus on February 12, 2015, restore and maintain the ceasefire, pull back heavy weaponry from the boundary line, and also secure Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) monitors' unimpaired access to the Donbas territory.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine urges Russia to stop supplying weapons to militants in Donbas and stop massing up forces along the Ukraine/Russia border.

President Petro Poroshenko expects the UN Security Council to demonstrate to Russia that it is in solidarity with Ukraine on the situation in Avdiivka, Donetsk Region.

February 2, Ukraine was chairing a UN Security Council session devoted to the escalation of the situation in Avdiivka.

February 1, Ukraine assumed presidency of the UN Security Council.
