Justice Ministry Announces Investment Competition For Lukyanivka And Lviv Remand Prisons

The Ministry of Justice has announced the launch of an investment competition for the right to acquire the Lukyanivka (Kyiv) and Lviv remand prisons.

First Deputy Minister of Justice Nataliya Sevostyanova announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to her, the Ministry of Justice worked on the procedure for sale of the old remand prisons in Kyiv and Lviv for about six months and decided to organize it based on the principle of public-private partnership.

"This competition is beginning now," Sevostyanova said.

The Ministry of Justice started accepting project proposals for construction of new remand prisons in Kyiv and Lviv on Thursday, February 2.

The new remand prisons are expected to be built at the site of the Lychakiv correctional center No.30 in Lviv region and near Irpin or Bucha in Kyiv region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Justice expects the Lukyanivka remand prison to be moved to the outskirts of Kyiv by 2019.
