Podilskyi District Court Of Kyiv Summons LPR "Head" Plotnitsky To February 6 Sitting As Charged Offender

The Podilskyi District Court of Kyiv has summoned Igor Plotnitsky, the "head" of the terrorist organisation "Luhansk People's Republic" (LPR), to the February 6 sitting as a charged offender.

The summons was published by Uriadovyi Kurier on Wednesday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

He is charged under part 3 of article 146 of the Penal Code (Illegal deprivation of freedom or abduction), part 2 of article 258 (Terrorist activities) and part 3 of article 332 (Unauthorised movement of persons across the border).

The session is scheduled for 17:00.

Should Plotnitsky fail to appear, the case would be heard in absentia.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Office of the Prosecutor of Kyiv in March 2016 conveyed to court the in-absentia bill indictment against Plotnitsky upon commission of a terrorist attack, hostage taking and abduction of Sen Lieut of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Member of Parliament Nadiya Savchenko (non-affiliated).

January 30, prosecutors sent to court the indictment of Plotnitsky of involvement in the crash of the Ilyushin Il-76 plane of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that was shot with a missile in Luhansk in June 2014.
