Ukrzaliznytsia Plans To Launch Passenger Service To Poland, Austria, Bulgaria

Ukrzaliznytsia public joint-stock company plans to launch passenger service to Poland, Austria and Bulgaria.

Ukrzaliznytsia Director General Wojciech Balczun said this at a Cabinet of Ministers session, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

He plans to buy 50 passenger carriages and four new trains this year.

Ukrzaliznytsia also plans to create an international brand UZ Cargo International.

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, the company plans to finish negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on a USD 150 loan for the purchase of some 5,890 high-sided wagons.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to earn a UAH 6 billion profit in 2017 under local accounting standards.

In 2016, Ukrzaliznytsia earned a UAH 303 million profit, while in 2015 it incurred losses of UAH 16.8 billion under local accounting standards.

Ukrzaliznytsia started its business on December 1, 2015.

Ukrzaliznytsia incorporates Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa, South, South-Western, and Prydniprovska Railways, as well as other production and technological enterprises and organizations engaged in provision of freight and passenger carriage.
