The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe re-elected Pedro Agramunt PACE President for the second term on 23 January 2017. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe announced this on Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports. "Pedro Agramunt is re-elected as @PACE_President for a second term of office," reads the statement. In his speech at the opening of the PACE session on Monday Pedro Agramunt said again he stood for the renewal of the voting right of the Russian delegation to the PACE. Pedro Agramunt was elected PACE President in January 2016. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, PACE President Pedro Agramunt called on Russia to release Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadiya Savchenko (then a member of the Batkivschyna Party faction). In December 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expellsed MP Nadiya Savchenko from the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
