Heraschenko: Russia Grants Refugee Status To 355 Ukrainians Out 6,000 Applicants Since 2014

First Deputy Parliament Speaker Iryna Heraschenko, who is Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on resolution of the conflict in Donbas (Ukraine, Russia, and the OSCE), has said that Russia has granted refugee status to 355 citizens Ukraine out of the 6,082 that have applied for refugee status in the country since 2014.


Heraschenko announced this on her Facebook page, Ukrainian News reports.

The Ukrainska Pravda internet publication published an interview with Heraschenko on January 17, in which she said that Russia granted refugee status to 115 Ukrainian citizens from 2015 to 1 October 2016.

At the same time, according to Heraschenko, 6,082 citizens of Ukraine applied for refugee status in Russia.

Heraschenko also said that information from the Ukrainian embassy in Russia stated that 839,000 displaced persons from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions were in Russia in 2014.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Heraschenko has said that militants are demanding amnesty for 700 convicts in exchange for release and transfer of 50 Ukrainian war prisoners.
