Competition Commission: MPs Not Among Contenders For Post Of National Police Chief

Parliamentary deputies are not among the contenders for the post of head of the National Police.

Yevhen Zakharov, a member of the competition commission for the post of National Police chief, announced this to Ukrainian News Agency.

According to Zakharov, despite public statements, Parliamentary Deputy Ihor Mosiichuk of the Oleh Liashko Radical Party faction and Parliamentary Deputy Mustafa Nayem of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction have not applied to participate in the competition.

He said that 40 of the 64 applicants previously worked in the police force and 18 were active police officers.

Several lawyers, including the Legal Aid Center’s head Andrii Vyshnievskyi, also intend to participate in the competition.

In addition, several businesspeople and a 62-year-old former policeman have submitted applications.

According to Zakharov, the competition commission will meet after January 18 to eliminate unsuitable candidates.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the competition for the post of National Police chief on December 15.
