The Cabinet of Ministers expects the fourth tranche of the International Monetary Fund’s EFF loan, which Ukraine may receive in February, to amount to USD 1 billion.
An informed source within the government disclosed this to Ukrainian News.
He stressed that the possibility of disbursing about USD 1.8 billion as the fourth tranche was discussed in November, but the discussion now is about of sum of about USD 1 billion.
The final amount of the loan tranche will most likely be determined after President Petro Poroshenko meets with IMF head Christine Lagarde during the World Economic Forum in Davos, which will take place from January 17 to 20.
The funds are expected to into the reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the IMF approved disbursement of USD 1 billion to Ukraine as the third loan tranche in September 2016.
In its updated memorandum of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine pledged to implement land reform and adopt a law that provides for gradually raising the retirement age for citizens.
In early October, the parliament extended the moratorium on sale of agricultural land by one year until January 1, 2018.
The National Bank of Ukraine previously expected the International Monetary Fund to disburse USD 1.3 billion as the latest loan tranche to Ukraine.
