Russia To Connect Crimea To Its Gas Transportation System Before 2017

Russian intends to connect the Crimea to its gas transportation system by the end of 2016.

President Putin announced this during a press conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"One of the problems of the Crimea is energy supplies. I want to inform you that Chernomorneftegas has accomplished works to connect the Crimean gas transportation system to main gas pipelines of the Russian Federation. Within two or three days we will announce that the works are over and the supplies of Russian gas to the Crimea commence," he said.

Construction of two power plants in the Crimea will follow.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin is sure that relations between Russia and Ukraine will normalize.

Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014.

This November, the International Criminal Court (seated in The Hague, the Netherlands) decided to continue gathering evidence of Russia's involvement in the conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.
