Member of Parliament Oleksandr Onyschenko (Will of the People) accuses MP Ihor Kononenko (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) of demanding a bribe for supply of natural gas to state-owned enterprises that, in Onyschenko's words, are controlled by Kononenko of UAH 2,000 for each thousand cubic meters. Onyschenko said this during a video conference hosted by Ukrainian News Agency's press center. He said his companies were involved in such schemes, but this brought him no profit. He supposes that the same scheme applies to coal supplies to the state energy-generating company Centrenergo. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities was setting the ceiling prices of natural gas for industrial consumers till October 2015. After October 1, 2015, gas prices for the industry are not regulated. July 5, the Verkhovna Rada gave assent for the apprehension, arrest and criminal prosecution of MP Onyschenko after a petition from the Prosecutor-General's Office. Onyschenko is suspected of committing crimes qualified by Section 4 of Article 28, Section 5 of Article 191, Section 1 of Article 255, Section 4 of Article 28, and Section 2 of Article 205 of the Penal Code between January 2013 and January 2016. According to Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Artem Sytnyk, the business of the companies associated with Onyschenko, while performing joint operation agreements with UkrGasVydobuvannya, caused UAH 3 billion damage on the State.
