Ukraine Need To Stabilise Fiscal Situation – IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that Ukraine should stabilise the fiscal situation.

IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine said this Jerome Vacher, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Stability of the fiscal situation should be insured in the medium term, he said.

It is also necessary to toughen control of public finance (social assistance, subsidies etc.)

The question of the fight against corruption is still a vexed one, Vacher added.

Meanwhile, in his words, macroeconomic stability has teethed in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the IMF mission was working in Ukraine from November 3 to 17.

Upon conclusion of the mission work, the IMF urged Ukrainian authorities to adopt a national budget for 2017 conforming with the cooperation programme.

The mission also said that Ukrainian authorities needed more time to fulfil the current stage of the cooperation programme.

The National Bank hopes to receive the next IMF tranche in January or February 2017.
