Internal Ministry To Call Competition For National Police Chief Thursday

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will call a competition for the position of the Chief of the National Police on Thursday, December 15.

Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov announced this to journalists, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"A reputable commission will be able to propose one, two or three candidacies upon the competition. Then, I'll the propose the final candidacy to the Cabinet for approval," he said.

The minister plans to finish the preparation of all documents required to invited the competition on Thursday.

He predicts that a fresh Chief of the National Police will be appointed in January 2017.

Avakov stressed that he already has five candidacies for this position but refused to name them.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers on November 16 dismissed Chief of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze.
