Twenty seven militaries have joined militants during captivity.

Oleksandr Tkachuk, the head of the staff of the Security Service of Ukraine, announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Oleksandr Tkachuk said that 63 of servicemen have been recruited by militants by means of tortures, but they informed about this on returning to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

He says the Security Service of Ukraine has prevented 76 cases of recruitment of Ukrainian militaries by secret services of Russia.

According to Oleksandr Tkachuk, 47 Ukrainian soldiers released from captivity intend to apply to international courts over tortures and 31 lawsuits have been sent.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine has arrested colonel Ivan Beziazykov of the Ukrainian armed forces, who was released from the captivity of militants, on suspicion of espionage.
