Kyiv Mayor / Chairman of the Kyiv Municipal State Administration Vitali Klitschko is in Germany to attend the congress of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).
The press service of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko is present at the congress of the Party Christian Democratic Union, which has been led by (Chancellor) Angela Merkel for many years. The congress is in the German town of Essen," reads the statement.
The party congress is also attended by European People's Party President Joseph Daul, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament Elmar Brok, ex-President of the European Parliament and Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Hans-Gert Poettering.
It is likely that the congress will re-elect Angela Merkel the leader of the party for the ninth time and will nominate her as candidate for the post of the Chancellor of Germany from the Christian Democratic Union.
The parliamentary elections in Germany will be in October 2017.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko takes vacation for December 5-6.
On November 7-8, Kyiv Mayor Klitschko was visiting Berlin, Germany to take part in the Publishers' Night ceremony and award President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz in the European of the Year nomination, and to meet with the potential investors of the Podil-Voskresenka Bridge project.
