EU May Provide Second Tranche Of Macro-Financial Assistance Of EUR 600 Million To Ukraine In Early 2017

The European Union may provide a second tranche of Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) of EUR 600 million to Ukraine in early 2017.

Ambassador Hugues Mingarelli, the Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine announced this in an interview for Ukrainian News Agency.

"The new MFA programme for Ukraine amounts to a total of EUR 1.8 billion. A second MFA tranche of EUR 600 million will be released as soon as the Verkhovna Rada adopts the new law lifting the moratorium on the export of unprocessed timber. We hope we'll be able to provide this tranche in early 2017," he said.

The EU is also providing Ukraine with the EUR 200 million assistance under the cooperation programme for the fight against corruption, decentralisation of state administration, public finances management, energy and banking sectors reforms, and development of small and mid-sized enterprises.
