The State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection of Ukraine says maggots of Ceratitis capitata Wied have been found in a batch of Mandarins of 118.8 tons imported from Turkey. The Food Safety Service announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The statement reads that maggots of Ceratitis capitata Wied were found in the batch of Mandarins in Illichivsk Maritime Merchant Port, Odesa region, on November 25. The batch of the Mandarins from Turkey has been seized and specialists will take required measures. The Food Safety Service has sent a notification to the Turkish authorities. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, maggots of Ceratitis capitata Wied have been found in two batches of Mandarins of 24.5 and 21.3 tons respectively imported from Turkey.
