Turchynov: Missile Tests Over Black Sea Extremely Important Step Toward Restoring Ukraine's Air Defense System

The National Security and Defense Council's Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov believes that conduct of missile tests over the Black Sea on 1-2 December is an extremely important step toward restoring the Ukrainian air defense system.

The press service of the National Security and Defense Council announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Russian agents and traitorous heads of the Ministry of Defense have deliberately destroyed the air defense system in Ukraine over many years... This is why these tests were very important, because it is a very serious step toward restoring the air defense system of our country," said Turchynov.

According to him, the missiles proved their combat characteristics and were right on target.

The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council stressed that the missiles that were tested could reliably hit both air and surface targets.

According to him, all the missile launches were conducted in accordance with the approved program.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Turchynov recently announced that Ukraine intended to conduct missile tests over the Black Sea during the period of 1-2 December in defiance of Russia's threats to launch a missile strike.

The Ministry of Defense has said that Russia may launch a missile strike if Ukraine launches missiles over the Black Sea on 1-2 December.

According to media reports, Russia has protested to Ukraine over this and threatened to launch a missile strike on Ukrainian missile launchers.
