Cabinet Obliges District Heating Companies Charge For Heating In Houses Without Heat Meters At Town Average Readings In Houses With Meters

The Cabinet of Ministers has put district heating companies under obligation to charge consumers for centralised heating in houses not equipped with heat energy meters basing on the average readings of consumption of heat energy in houses equipped with heat meters in the same town.

The Government produced this decision at the session on Wednesday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

This algorithm of billing for heating services shall apply only in the towns where at least 50% of houses are equipped with heat meters.

Today, 61% of the housing stock in this country is equipped with heat meters.

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities expects that 88% of houses will be equipped with heat meters as of January 1, 2017.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman emphasises that the Government’s task is to force all district heating companies install heat meters 100%.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the percentage of equipment of consumers with heat meters grew from 34% to 52% in 2015.
