Former President Viktor Yanukovych says he does not possess any information about the initiator of the issuance of firearms to policemen during EuroMaidan.
He said this while questioned via video link in the trial by the Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv of the case against five former Berkut special company staff. charged with slaughtering 48 EuroMaidan activists in Instytutska Street in Kyiv on February 20. 2014.
The ex-president also said that Maidan protesters had a lot of firearms too. both personal and stolen from military supply depots and district police departments.
Moreover. to his knowledge. activists had foreign-made sniper rifles.
Yanukovych though did not voice the opinion about how these weapons had fallen into the hands of protesters.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported. Yanukovych thinks that Berkut special company staff went beyond authority when dispersing the EuroMaidan on November 30. 2013.
