PGO: Azarov Met With Putin In Russia On February 18, 2014

The Prosecutor-General’s Office believes that former prime minister Mykola Azarov and his son met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on February 18, 2014, on the eve of the mass shooting of protesters in Kyiv.

Oleksii Donskyi, the head of the special investigation department at the Prosecutor-General’s Office, stated this during a court session, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, after his resignation, Azarov and his son flew on a Kyiv-St. Petersburg flight and met with Putin on February 18, 2014.

According to him, an employee of the State Security Administration of Ukraine was also present at the meeting.

During his cross-examination, former President Viktor Yanukovych said that he knew nothing about such a meeting.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Prosecutor-General’s Office believes that there were numerous contacts between former Presidential Administration head Viktor Medvedchuk and Yanukovych’s head of security Kostiantyn Kobzar during the Euromaidan protests.
