Court Cancels Bail For Defector Servicemen Detained On Administrative Border With Crimea

The Central District Court of Mykolayiv has cancelled the bail for Oleksandr Baranov and Maksym Odintsov, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who deserted from the army and defected to the Russian Federation and were detained on the administrative border with the Russia-occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement made by the Court press service.

November 23, the tribunal considered the investigator's motion for change of the method of the preventive measure.

The military are suspected of high treason (part 1 of article 111 of the Penal Code), so the Court has ruled to apply custodial restraint only, thus cancelling the bail option for the suspects.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Court placed Baranov and Odintsov under arrest on November but set a bail of UAH 350,000 and UAH 250,000.
