As of July 1, 2026, the total amount of deposits held by individuals in Ukrainian banks exceeded UAH 1.75 trillion, a historic high.
This is according to data from the Deposit Guarantee Fund, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Since the beginning of the year, household deposits have grown by more than UAH 130 billion, or 8%.
The trend of growing balances in Ukrainians’ accounts has continued throughout the years of full-scale war.
According to the Fund, less than 1% of depositors hold deposits exceeding UAH 600,000, yet these accounts account for more than half of the total amount of household funds in banks.
The currency composition of deposits has remained unchanged in recent years: 66% of deposits are held in hryvnia and 34% in foreign currency.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the period of martial law and for three months following its termination, a provision is in effect in Ukraine providing for full reimbursement of funds for deposits held in banks. After that, the maximum reimbursement amount will be UAH 600,000. Once Ukraine joins the EU and aligns its national legislation with the requirements of EU directives, the guaranteed amount will correspond to the limit established by EU law, which currently stands at EUR 100,000.
