Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a brief conversation with Donald Trump in Rome in late April 2025 fundamentally changed their relationship. The Ukrainian leader discussed this in an interview with American blogger Laura Loomer, part of which the US president posted on the social media platform Truth Social.

When asked what helped ease tensions in their relationship following the 2025 conflict in the Oval Office, Zelenskyy called the meeting at the Vatican a “historic moment.”

“We had our first changing moment in Rome, at the Vatican. Yes, it was not a long meeting, but I always said that I think it was a historic moment, because we changed the relationship in 15, 20 minutes,” the President emphasized.

He refrained from sharing details of the conversation but stressed that the lives of many people depend on such dialogue. It was also reported that as early as next week, Zelenskyy plans to hold another meeting with Trump during his visit to the US.
