In June, Ukraine received more than USD 15 billion in international financial aid.
This is stated in materials from the National Bank of Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
It is noted that due to low levels of international aid, gross reserves had been declining in previous months.
“As early as June, Ukraine received over USD 15 billion in international financial aid. A significant portion of these funds was used to replenish reserves, which allowed them to resume growth,” the NBU reported.
In addition, the financial market regulator reports that a significant increase in expenditures in June led to a substantial widening of the state budget deficit (excluding grants in revenues), which significantly exceeded last year’s figure for the first half of the year.
Substantial international aid in June made it possible not only to finance budgetary needs but also to accumulate foreign currency reserves, which will secure spending in the coming months.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of June, Ukraine received EUR 3.2 billion from the European Union—the first tranche under the new financial instrument, the Ukraine Support Loan.
