During a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed US President Donald Trump photos of the damage caused by the russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Reuters reported this, citing European diplomats.

European diplomats said that during his meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy showed the US leader photos of the aftermath of the russian strike that hit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on Monday.

One of the European diplomats noted that Trump expressed his disapproval of the russian strike, while another added that, from a psychological standpoint, showing these photos was a successful move on Zelenskyy’s part.

As a reminder, the millennium-old complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sustained significant damage during a large-scale russian attack.

The strike on the monastery drew international condemnation; the French foreign minister stated that it was comparable to the bombing of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Earlier today, June 16, Zelenskyy stated that he had met with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit, which is currently taking place in France. The meeting was a follow-up to a closed-door meeting that also included French President Emmanuel Macron.

After meeting with the Ukrainian leader, Trump stated that russia, as the aggressor nation, must sign an agreement to end the war against Ukraine. In addition, according to journalists, Trump reportedly acknowledged that russian dictator vladimir putin is now in a weaker position than before.
