US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the launch of additional strikes on Iranian territory. At the same time, Iran announced the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz following the US attacks.
The command released a corresponding statement on X.
The additional strikes began at 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time on the orders of the Commander-in-Chief.
"The strikes are a response to Iran's unjustified and ongoing aggression," the US command stated.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported explosions in several regions of the country. Explosions were initially reported near the Strait of Hormuz and west of Tehran.
No official data on the scale of the strikes or possible consequences has been released yet.
Following the US attacks, Iran announced the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the Iranian military command.
Recall that US President Donald Trump stated that Iran is stalling on reaching an agreement with the United States, for which it must be punished.
In addition, he stated that the United States must respond to Iran for the downing of an Apache combat helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
On June 8, a US Army Apache attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz.
