WhiteBIT founder Volodymyr Nosov is integrating the Dutch supercar manufacturer into the W Group ecosystem. The stake was purchased directly from Arkady Rotenberg — an individual on the sanctions lists of the United States, the EU, and the United Kingdom, reports the news outlet Informator.
The founder of the cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT and president of W Group, Volodymyr Nosov, has announced the acquisition of a significant stake in the Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker. The amount has not been officially disclosed — estimates put it at €200–500 million.
The new C8 Preliator — a twin-turbo V8 producing around 800 hp — will debut on August 14 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. No electrification of the platform is planned.
A Direct Deal Involving a Sanctioned Individual's Asset
Until the deal closed, the stake acquired by Nosov was owned by Arkady Rotenberg — one of the businessmen closest to Putin, placed on the sanctions lists of the United States (since 2014), the EU, and the United Kingdom. The asset passed to Nosov directly from the sanctioned oligarch.
In 2020, Spyker attempted a relaunch backed by Russian capital. The partner was Arkady's brother, Boris Rotenberg (owner of SMP Racing). The brand's founder, Victor Muller, called him a "strategic partner." Spykers with Russian license plates appeared in the Netherlands — including the limited-run C8 Laviolette Basic Instinct 2 Edition (25 units worldwide).
Those plans never materialized. In 2021, Spyker NV declared bankruptcy with debts of €1.45 million, and Muller lost control of the brand. After February 2022, Russian investment in European companies became impossible.
Who Is Volodymyr Nosov
Nosov, 36, is a native of Kharkiv. The platform he founded, WhiteBIT, ranks among the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume: $2.7 trillion per year and 35 million users across 150 countries. According to Forbes estimates, W Group is worth $20–40 billion; its headquarters are in Vilnius.
What Spyker Gets
Victor Muller retains his post as CEO of Spyker N.V. Under the terms of the agreement, Spyker Digital is being created — a joint technology company of W Group and Spyker for integrating the brand with blockchain products. The exact size of Nosov's stake is not being disclosed.
"Our goal is to preserve everything that makes the brand special and to help it enter a new era of growth, innovation, and global relevance," Nosov said.
Assembly of the C8 Preliator is planned in the United Kingdom, with painting and final assembly in the Netherlands.
Spyker's history spans more than 140 years — the brand was founded in 1880. Muller revived the marque in 2000 and, in 2010–2012, attempted to rescue Saab — both companies went bankrupt. In October 2025, he regained the rights to Spyker's intellectual property.
