The Verkhovna Rada intends to amend the state budget and increase spending on the national security and defense sector by UAH 1.56 trillion.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, announced this on his Telegram channel, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
"First reading of #15224 – amendments to the state budget for UAH 1.56 trillion. But here’s the breakdown: (-UAH 40 billion from the budget for armaments, +UAH 40 billion to the reserve fund for Cabinet programs)," the MP wrote.
Bill No. 15224 was adopted in the first reading with 240 votes.
The government bill primarily proposes to regulate the specifics of crediting EU financial assistance to the budget in 2026, as well as to designate the military levy and export duties on military and dual-use goods for the monetary support of Armed Forces personnel, and for the procurement and modernization of weapons.
It is proposed that a portion of the “military” personal income tax be allocated to pay compensation for UAVs of the aggressor state that have been destroyed.
At the same time, it is proposed to increase spending on the national security and defense sector by UAH 1.56 trillion, on the state budget reserve fund by UAH 40 billion, and to allocate UAH 40 billion for the implementation of Comprehensive Plans for the Resilience of Regions and Individual Cities.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada ratified a memorandum and loan agreement with the European Union regarding the provision of a EUR 90 billion loan to Ukraine.
