Bloody events unfolded after noon in the Kyiv's Holosiivskyi District. At first, local residents began to talk on Telegram channels about the sounds of gunfire they heard in the yards of their homes.
Later, videos appeared, shot on phones, showing a man who was just moving quickly down the street and shooting at almost everyone he met.

Emergency services and the KORD police special unit were recalled to the scene of the emergency. During the police operation, the attacker barricaded himself in a local supermarket and took hostages. Negotiations between law enforcement officers and the attacker did not yield any results.
During the assault on the store by special forces, the shooter was eliminated. He was a 58-year-old Dmytro V., a native of the russian capital moscow, a citizen of Ukraine who had long lived in Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, and later in the Holosiivskyi District of Kyiv.
