On April 12, the Sofia Kyivska national reserve will host an Easter celebration, during which children will be able to get acquainted with spring folk games and traditions at an interactive children's location from the project "Know Your Ukraine". This was announced by the patron and co-author of the project Gnat Korobko.
"At our location, the youngest visitors will be able to complete an Easter quest, play traditional games with Easter eggs, create LEGO Easter eggs and much more. Through such games and their own experience that spring traditions will become more understandable and closer to them," – said Gnat Korobko.
The children's space "Spring, spring, what have you brought us" will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
According to him, adults will also have something to do at the "Easter in Sofia Kyivska" holiday.
"During the day, spring and haivka dances will be performed on the territory of the reserve, performances by kobzars and lyre players are planned, and traditional spring games will be held. Visitors will be able to join in a joint festive meal and visit an exhibition with works by folk masters," – shared Gnat Korobko.
He added that previously in most regions of the country it was customary to celebrate Easter together near the church, but due to historical prohibitions and other trials, the tradition was forgotten. The organizers of the event want to revive it and thus create a space for community meetings, games, and family communication.
The holiday is organized by the National Reserve "Sophia Kyivska" and the National Center of Folk Culture "Ivan Honchar Museum" in partnership with the "Origins" project from the Zagoriy Foundation.
"Know Your Ukraine" is an educational project about traditional Ukrainian culture, which, in partnership with charitable and cultural institutions and with the support of philanthropist Gnat Korobko, creates educational courses, lessons, and practical materials for educators and a wide audience.
