US President Donald Trump said that he has agreed to suspend the "use of destructive force" against Iran for two weeks, provided that the country agrees to fully open the Strait of Hormuz

He wrote about this on Thruth Social.

"Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks," Trump said in a statement.

He added that this will be a bilateral ceasefire, and the reason for this is that the United States has already met and exceeded all military objectives and is far advanced in reaching a final agreement on long-term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East.

"We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated," the US president said.

Recall that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the achievement of a two-week truce with the United States and said, that Tehran will resume shipping through the Strait of Hormuz by this time.

The day before, Trump said that on the night of April 8 "an entire civilization will die" if the Iranian leadership does not agree to Washington's demands and does not unblock shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United Kingdom evacuated its military personnel from Iraq amid escalation between the US, as well as the ultimatum of US President Donald Trump, who announced the "death of civilization" if Iran does not unblock shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
