Kaleykino oil pumping station in Tatarstan on fire after attack

On the night of February 23, a fire broke out at the Kaleykino oil pumping station in Tatarstan, russia, one of the key hubs of the Druzhba oil export pipeline. The incident was reported by monitoring Telegram channels and russian media.

Videos have been posted online showing a large-scale fire and tall columns of flames on the territory of the facility.

In the morning, regional authorities confirmed the attack on the industrial facility. According to the official version, the "local fire" was caused by the fall of the drone debris.

"There are no casualties. We are currently eliminating the consequences. The situation is under control," the administration said.

The Kaleykino oil pumping station is the largest in the region and plays an important role in the functioning of the Druzhba oil pipeline. It is here that oil from Western Siberia and the Volga region is blended before being transported for export, and it also provides the necessary pressure for the uninterrupted supply of raw materials to the European direction and refineries in Tatarstan.

The damage to such a facility could affect the logistics of supplies, as oil and gas revenues form about a third of russia's budget, which finances government spending, including military spending

As a reminder, the SSU recently conducted three long-range attacks in russia. Bombed a refinery in Ukhta: a record for the range of destruction for the entire war (1,700 km). Struck a chemical plant in the Perm Oblast (1,600 km from Ukraine). The plant worked for the russian military-industrial complex and was a key link in the production of explosives. And in the Pskov Oblast, Ukraine's drones successfully attacked a large oil depot.
