Almost 3,000 houses in capital still without heating: Klitschko reports new data

As of the morning of January 22, just under 3,000 multi-storey buildings in Kyiv are without heat supply. Restoration work continues after the infrastructure was damaged by russian attacks.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has reported this.

"As of this morning, a little less than 3,000 high-rise buildings in the capital remain without heat supply. Last night, we connected heat to 270 buildings. We did it for the second time after the infrastructure was damaged by enemy attacks on January 9 and 20," Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

The mayor also noted that emergency power outages are still being used in the capital. Utilities and power engineers are working virtually around the clock to restore heat and light as soon as possible.

As reported earlier, heating will be restored to more than 3,000 homes in Kyiv on the night of January 22, and full restoration is expected within two days. As of the evening of January 21, a total of 3,261 houses were still without heat.

As for the electricity supply, on January 21, Ukraine's Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Kyiv should soon move from emergency blackouts to strict but predictable schedules.

Despite the fact that power engineers have already managed to connect all the critical infrastructure facilities in the capital after the night attack on January 20, the situation with electricity and heat supply in Kyiv remains difficult. After the massive shelling, thousands of homes were left without heating in temperatures as low as -15°C.

As a reminder, power engineers began to return heat to Kyiv residents at night, that were affected by shelling.
