After the russian shelling on the night of January 13, Kyiv is experiencing an even greater shortage of electricity, even for critical infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"After today's shelling, there is now an even greater shortage of electricity in the capital. Even for critical infrastructure. Power engineers are working. But the situation is extremely difficult," he said.

Klitschko also said that about 500 high-rise buildings in Kyiv are currently without heating, and repair crews are working day and night.

The mayor also emphasized that the information about the alleged closure of large supermarkets is not true. He thanked the business that continues to work to provide the necessary products and goods to the city's residents in an emergency situation.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ukrenergo national energy company said that due to the difficult situation in the power grid, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and part of the Kyiv Region on Tuesday morning.

Due to the difficult situation in the power grid, the movement of ground electric transport has been temporarily suspended on the right bank of Kyiv. Duplicate bus routes have been organized in some areas.

Novus and Silpo supermarket chains have confirmed that some of their stores cannot operate as usual due to power outages, in particular in Kyiv and the region.
