US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced that on January 6, the American delegation in Paris had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which "significant progress" was achieved, in particular on the issues of a bilateral security guarantee system and a prosperity plan.
He wrote about this on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Thus, in Paris, the American delegation (Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, General Alex Grynkewich, Ambassador Charles Kushner and White House Advisor Josh Gruenbaum) met with representatives of the "Coalition of the Willing" and the Ukrainian delegation.
Witkoff noted that there were meetings with European leaders, in particular with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as with Zelenskyy.
"And we are encouraged by the collaborative approach and partnership between the parties. We have made significant progress on several critical workstreams, including our bilateral security guarantee framework and a prosperity plan," he said.
Trump's Special Envoy also noted that the coalition has published a statement outlining its concept of security assurances.
"We agree with the Coalition that durable security guarantees and robust prosperity commitments are essential to a lasting peace in the Ukraine and we will continue to work together on this," he stressed.
Witkoff added that discussions with the Ukrainian delegation will continue on January 7.
He expressed hope for achieving "additional positive momentum" in the near future.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the new head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, is present for the first time as part of the Ukrainian delegation in Paris.
