This year, the Christmas procession with Christmas stars will take place in 15 communities in Ukraine, whose representatives won the competition organized by the educational project “Know Your Ukraine." This was announced by patron and co-author of the project Gnat Korobko, in a comment to Ukrainian News.

“The competition has ended, and as a result, 15 local communities from different regions of Ukraine will receive traditional Christmas stars as a gift to hold a procession with stars in their city. The competition was held by the educational project "Know Your Ukraine". The aim of the initiative was to support local communities in their desire to revive and popularize the ancient winter tradition of Ukrainians," said Gnat Korobko.

He noted that more than 100 public, cultural, and youth organizations from all over the country, from Kharkiv to Chernivtsi, took part in the selection process. As a result, 15 winners were selected to receive Christmas stars for a parade in their community.

Each star is handmade by craftsmen, created according to traditional Ukrainian designs. It will become the basis for joint creativity: communities will be able to paint their stars together and take them out onto the streets of cities during the Christmas parade.

"For us, this initiative is about people and community. It's about the opportunity to spend Christmas together and feel that the tradition is alive. We want to support communities that are ready to carry this light forward in their cities. Our goal is to unite Ukrainians around traditions. I am convinced that we need to teach, explain, and show the beauty of Ukrainian culture. This is the only way to lay the foundation for true national unity based on culture and traditions," said Gnat Korobko.

As a reminder, “Know Your Ukraine" is an educational volunteer project implemented by the KOLO Charitable Foundation, the Ivan Honchar Museum, the EdEra educational platform, and Ukrainian philanthropist Gnat Korobko. Recently, as part of the project, teachers from all over Ukraine gathered in Kyiv to learn about Ukrainian Christmas traditions. After that, each teacher will organize a Christmas celebration at their school.
