Ukraine has inflicted enormous military losses on Russia, defended the principles of democracy in the face of autocracy, and thwarted Putin's imperial ambitions. Under these circumstances, continued American support for Ukraine is crucial.

This was stated by US Senator (Virginia), representative of the US Democratic Party, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner in a Guildhall commentary.

"Putin's invasion of Ukraine is not only immoral, but also poses a serious threat to the fundamental interests of our national security. The Ukrainian people have shown exceptional courage, resilience and fortitude in repelling Russia's brutal invasion. Despite Putin's naïve expectations that Kiev would fall within days, Ukraine has demonstrated outstanding will and capacity for resistance, inflicting serious damage on the Russian army, the effects of which will be felt for a long time to come", - the U.S. senator said.

"Without jeopardizing the lives of a single American or NATO soldier, Ukraine inflicted enormous military losses on Russia, defended the principles of democracy in the face of autocracy, and thwarted Putin's imperial ambitions. Under these circumstances, continued American support for Ukraine is critical. As Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I will continue my efforts to provide Ukraine with all necessary diplomatic, military, and intelligence support, and I will push the administration to fulfill the United States' international obligations to allies and partners, including those of President Trump", - the politician concluded.

Earlier, UK MP Neil Shastri-Hurst said that the West needs to demonstrate strength to the Russian Federation in order to achieve peace. To do this, first of all, it is necessary to continue supplying arms so that Ukraine can effectively defend itself. This includes: strengthening air defense systems, transferring long-range missiles, and conducting training programs.

Note: Mark Warner is a U.S. Senator from Virginia since 2009, a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to that, he served as Governor of Virginia (2002-2006). In the Senate, Warner is Vice Chairman of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee and serves on the Finance, Banking, and Budget Committees. He holds a law degree from Harvard University.
