Farmers harvest 27.3 million tons of early grain
As of August 18, agricultural enterprises harvested 27.259 million tons of early grain and leguminous crops from an area of 6,185,000 hectares with a yield of 44.1 centners per hectare.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Currently, 5.567 million tons of barley have been ground on an area of 1,398,000 hectares with a yield of 39.8 centners per hectare.
20.818 million tons of wheat were also collected from an area of 4,384,000 hectares with a yield of 47.5 centners per hectare and 379,100 tons of peas from an area of 152,200 hectares with a yield of 24.9 centners per hectare.
Besides, 2,810 tons of millet were ground from an area of 2,320 hectares with a yield of 12.1 centners per hectare and 100 tons of buckwheat from an area of 80 hectares with a yield of 11.3 centners per hectare.
Other grain and leguminous crops were ground in the volume of 492,100 tons on an area of 249,000 hectares.
The leaders in grain harvesting are agricultural producers of the Zaporizhzhia Region, they threshed 96% of areas, the largest threshing remains in the Odesa Region - 3.2 million tons.
In the Dnipropetrovsk Region, Kherson Region, Ternopil Region and Odesa Region, the collection of millet has begun.
13 regions have finished harvesting rapeseed, now it is threshed on an area of 1,370,700 hectares, 3,944,100 tons of seeds have been threshed at a yield of 28.8 centners per hectare.
The farmers of the Poltava, Vinnytsia and Odesa Regions have completed the collection of early grain crops in full.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, harvesting began in Ukraine late in June.
Earlier, farmers completed the sowing of spring crops.
A total of 12.75 million hectares of grain, leguminous and oilseeds, as well as 213,000 hectares of sugar beet are planted.
In particular, grain and legumes were sown on an area of 5.672 million hectares, sunflower sowing was carried out on an area of 5.308 million hectares.
